Ivy League Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
15. Noah Kirkwood
A real recruiting win for Tommy Amaker, Kirkwood was a Top 100 recruit in the Class of 2018 who chose to play basketball at Harvard. A 6’7 guard, he spent four years in Cambridge, including that season canceled by the pandemic, and would become a significant figure on the court for the Crimson.
From the bench, he averaged 11.1 points and 4.4 rebounds as a freshman on a team that won the regular season title in the Ivy League. Kirkwood helped guide Harvard to a 21-win season as a sophomore, though his numbers would significantly rise after the pandemic year. In what was technically his senior year, Kirkwood averaged 17.7 points and 5.7 rebounds, becoming the Crimson’s top scorer in another solid season for the program. One of the highlights was a 23-point, 11-rebound, 7-steal, 5-assist performance in an overtime loss at Iona early in the year.
Kirkwood was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year and then earned First Team honors in his last two seasons. Those individual numbers took a big step forward in his final season, leading the conference in steals and finishing near the top of the league in points, assists, and field goal percentage. Kirkwood was a sought-after recruit who showed his worth with the Crimson.
