MAAC Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
5. KC Ndefo
Ndefo is a 6’7 forward who certainly proved his worth while in the MAAC. He started his collegiate career at Saint Peter’s back in 2018, joining the program the same year Shaheen Holloway became head coach. Across the next four years, he’d become one of the league’s best players, especially on the defensive end, and helped the Peacocks set some incredible history in 2022.
He’d up decent numbers in his first two seasons, though he mostly came off the bench as a sophomore. During his junior year, the first season after the start of the pandemic, Ndefo averaged 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks a game. The numbers were a step down in year four but the on-court results were far better, as he played a major in role in Saint Peter’s advancing to the Elite Eight as a 15-seed, including a 17-point, 10-rebound effort against Murray State in the second round.
Ndefo earned All-MAAC honors three straight seasons and was Tournament MVP as a senior, but it’s his defensive skill that stands out. He was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Year in each of his final three years with the Peacocks. He was an important part of that amazing streak of winning at the end of his senior season and would later follow Holloway to Seton Hall to spend this most recent season. Ndefo was certainly a dominant defender and important piece for the Peacocks.
