9. Aiden Sherrell – No. 50 overall prospect

Recruiting battle: Alabama vs Michigan State vs Texas

Although he’s at 50 per 247sports, Sherrell has risen up the rankings as fast as anyone in the 2024 class. Some other key recruiting sites even have him listed as a five-star prospect at this current moment. And after a dominant offseason AAU campaign, it makes sense.

Sherrell is a 6’11 big man that’s legitimately able to make three-point shots and spread the floor. He’s a big body and has good defensive instincts and overall natural tools to his game that’ll allow him to continue developing. The big man is already down to five programs, though a couple currently stand out.

As a native of Detroit, the Michigan State Spartans looks like an ideal fit for him. They currently have 4-star big man Jesse McCulloch committed in the 2024 class and if either Mady Sissoko or 5-star freshman Xavier Booker leaves after next season, they’d have plenty of room for him.

Alabama is another contender, looking for a star big man to replace the impact Charles Bediako gave them on the interior. Senior Nick Pringle and West Virginia transfer Mohamed Wague are good 1-year options at center but Sherrell would be the ideal option of the available centers. But can Coach Nate Oats beat out Tom Izzo for a local target?
