NCAA Basketball: 10 biggest recruiting battles to watch for 2024 class
5. Zoom Diallo – No.13 overall prospect
Recruiting battle: Gonzaga vs USC vs Washington
An elite true point guard prospect, Diallo is a 6’4 playmaker out of the state of Washington. He’s very good at passing and scoring and could play off the ball if needed. Diallo, a consensus five-star prospect overall, has been down to six teams for a while, though Kentucky has reportedly tried to get involved as well.
No one has been eliminated from the process but from a roster standpoint, Arizona, Florida State, and Kansas don’t look as appealing based on offseason moves, though the Jayhawks could always make a late push if they feel that Dajuan Harris won’t be around after next season. It’s likely coming down to the three west coast programs.
With No. 1 incoming recruit Isaiah Collier, USC could be looking for Diallo to be his replacement. And the two local teams have plenty to offer as well. Washington will be losing both Sahvir Wheeler and Paul Mulcahy after next season, while Gonzaga lacks guard depth overall and needs another guard. They also have had success with previous five-star recruits such as Jalen Suggs and Chet Holmgren.
As the top full-time west coast prospect in the class, there’s going to be special attention paid to what Diallo does. Especially since Diallo could end up in the Big Ten if he were to pick the Trojans.
