NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 10 teams for 5-star VJ Edgecombe
Miami Hurricanes
After losing ACC Player of the Year Isaiah Wong, the Hurricanes are on the move for its next star scoring guard. They do have a solid number of guards already on the roster, including Wooga Poplar and Jakai Robinson unless any of them breaks out, there’s going to be a need for more perimeter offense.
Right now, Miami is also after Jalil Bethea, a top-20 shooting guard prospect in the 2024 class as well. They probably can only get one and on paper, might have a better chance of landing Bethea if he doesn’t pick Villanova. It’s something to watch to see who makes their own decision first.
Michigan Wolverines
With a hopefully healthy Jaelin Llewellyn back and Alabama transfer Nimari Burnett, Michigan should have some good off-ball guard options for starting point guard Dug McDaniel to work with. And the team does have a pair of guard commits in the 2024 class already in Durral Brooks and Christian Anderson.
And still, the Wolverines could use the backcourt depth next year. They tried to get another guard via the transfer portal but couldn’t get it done, which would be beneficial for whichever big name decides to join them. Edgecombe would easily be a starter for the Big Ten school and could be a focal point of the offense out the gate.
