Jamison Battle – 6’7 Forward – Ohio State Buckeyes

Jamison Battle joins the Ohio State Buckeyes as he moves within the conference after spending the past two seasons with the Minnesota Golden Gophers. His role in the rotation changed a bit in 2022-23 and as a result, he finds himself looking to change the overall outlook on his career with a move to Columbus.

After seeing his production dip a bit in 2022-23, Battle found himself on the graduate transfer market and in no time, landed with another Big Ten foe in the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Battle had his best season with the Golden Gophers in 2021-22 back when he shot a career-high 36.6 percent from 3-point range, where he ranked fourth in the Big Ten. During the 2021-22 season, he put up 17.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg and 1.0 apg. He finished fifth in the conference in 3-pointers made (75), ninth in field goals made (186) and seventh in points per game (17.5).

He set a career-high mark in points with 39 points against Maryland to the tune of 7-of-16 shooting from 3-point land and 14-of-31 shooting from the field back on March 2, 2022. A few games prior to that, he set his career-high mark in total rebounds with 14 to go along with 21 points and five assists in a 77-60 victory over Northwestern.

This past season, his numbers dipped to 12.4 ppg and 3.8 rpg though he still managed to dish out 1.7 apg.

Battle has shown he’s a playmaking forward at 6-foot-7, 225 pounds that can battle in the paint and knock down shots on the perimeter when given opportunities. While those opportunities dwindled this past season, there will be plenty for him this season on a roster that returns just four players from last year’s squad.
