13. Sam Sessoms

Sessoms had himself a unique ride through college basketball. This 6’0 point guard was named America East Rookie of the Year and was a star at Binghamton for two years before spending his next two in a big role at Penn State. This past season, Sessoms chose Coppin State for his fifth and final year of eligibility and had quite the swan song.

In that lone season in the MEAC, Sessoms averaged 20.5 points and 5.0 assists per game, career-best figures in a stellar final season. While Coppin State as a team had a really dreadful season, Sessoms was the season’s one bright spot, with a multitude of great performances. Among the highlights was a 37-point effort against Howard and a double-double in an overtime loss to Georgetown early in the season.

Sessoms claimed First Team All-MEAC honors and really finished his career on a high note, leading the MEAC in scoring and several other offensive categories. He was also 2nd in the league in steals and one of the best shooters. It was a great finishing touch on a career that included excellence at two other schools and leagues, though this past year in the MEAC he was pretty special.
