7. Stanford Cardinal

2022-23 season record: 14-18 (7-13 Pac-12)

In the Coach Jerod Haase era, the Cardinal have struggled to get out of the bottom tier of the conference. And they faced some roster attrition as well, with all-around guard Harrison Ingram (more on him later) and Michael O’Connell both transferring out.

Stanford, whose high academic standards limit who they can get out of the portal, was able to land Jared Bynum. The former Big East 6th Man of the Year averaged 10.0 ppg and 4.3 apg last season at Providence and is a better point guard than the team has had in the past couple of years.

He’ll have some great shooters to pass the ball to, as wings Spencer Jones and Michael Jones are both back for extra years. They both shot over 36% from three-point range and made a combined 119 shots from deep last season. Max Murrell, who led the team with 45% from deep, is expected to have a larger role with Ingram gone.

If veteran forwards Brandon Angel and Maxime Raynaud can give them more consistent production, Stanford’s offense could be legit scary next season. But we’ll have to see it to believe that they can take a leap as a program first.
