Patriot League Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
22. Kahron Ross
Ross is a 5’11 point guard from Jonesboro, Arkansas who played his college years up at Lehigh. He’d become the Mountain Hawks’ leader at the point from the beginning, and would start all but one of the 123 games he’d play between 2014 and 2018. Though he’d fall short of reaching the NCAA Tournament, Ross would have a significant impact across his four years in the Patriot League.
During his freshman year, he was already showing off his talent, averaging 10.4 points and 5.8 assists per game. The Mountain Hawks would finish in the Top 3 in the Patriot League in all four seasons, including 2nd place finishes during his sophomore and junior seasons. During that freshman year, he had 15 points and a career-high 14 assists in a road upset of Arizona State, and would then average 6.1 assists per game the following year. Ross would get up to 13.2 points per game by his senior year, with impressive ball distribution in each season.
The Patriot League Rookie of the Year back in 2015, Ross actually earned All-Patriot honors in all four of his seasons. He was the league’s leader in assists for three straight years and was First Team All-Patriots as a sophomore. Ross was a major part of the success for Lehigh during this time, with pretty solid steals and efficiency numbers as well. It’s just a shame that this program couldn’t make headway in the Patriot League Tournament.
