Patriot League Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
18. Will Rayman
Colgate has been the best program in the Patriot League in recent years and Rayman played a role in the genesis of that recent success. A 6’9 forward from New York City, his career began back in 2016 and featured four really good seasons in the Raiders’ frontcourt, serving as a starter nearly the entire time.
Rayman would average 14.6 points per game in each of his first two seasons and was a great shooter throughout his career. He made 43% of his 3-pointers as a junior and would help lead the Raiders to the NCAA Tournament, dropping 26 points on Boston University in the Patriot League Tournament. His solid play would continue in his senior season, averaging 12.6 points and 9.0 rebounds and emerging as more of an elite defender in the process.
He was named Patriot Rookie of the Year as a freshman and Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. There was a lot to like about Rayman’s contributions for a Colgate team that won a ton of conference games in those last few seasons. He developed into the league’s best rebounder in his final seasons, totaling 1836 points and 900 rebounds across a really solid career for the Raiders. He’d make that single trip to the Big Dance, but this program has been in great shape since his departure.
