18. Cal Bears

Incoming transfers: Fardaws Aimaq, Jalen Cone, Keonte Kennedy, Jaylon Tyson

Even after recently losing Portland transfer Mike Meadows, Cal still has a great incoming group of veterans. And they needed this splash, coming off an awful 3-29 record. But the hire of Utah Valley head coach Mark Madsen has opened the door to some key newcomers, including one he’s very familiar with.

Aimaq was with Madsen at UVU, earning WAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors. He was limited to just 11 games at Texas Tech last season due to injuries but still showed he can be a power conference contributor, averaging 11.1 ppg and 7.9 rpg. Also coming from Texas Tech is forward Tyson, who in his first full year averaged 10.7 ppg and 6.1 rpg on 40% shooting from three-point range.

The big scorer joining the Bears is Cone, a former top-100 recruit that started his career at Virginia Tech. He transferred over to Northern Arizona, where he averaged a combined to average 18.2 ppg in the last two years on nearly 40% shooting from deep.

Even Kennedy is a good veteran addition, averaging nearly double figures at Memphis. He’ll be playing for his 4th team but gives needed backcourt depth alongside Cone and returning guard Devin Askew.
