Center

Starter – Robbie Beran (25 mpg)

Robbie Beran looks to close out his career in the ACC with the Hokies after spending the past four seasons in the Big Ten with the Northwestern Wildcats. Beran should give the Hokies some experience and beef on the interior. He averaged 7.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg this past season with the Wildcats across 34 appearances, all starts.

His numbers don’t show up in the blocks column, but he’s a solid defensive presence for the Hokies to have. He finished this past season with a defensive rating of 98.8 and finished 12th in the Big Ten in defensive rating (99.4) in 2021-22.

Bench – Lynn Kidd (10 mpg),  John Camden (5 mpg)

Look for Lynn Kidd and John Camden to compete for minutes off the bench at the reserve center spot though Kidd holds the edge from last season. Kidd posted 5.0 ppg and 3.4 rpg across 34 appearances and even made five starts for the Hokies in 2022-23. He’s a wiry big man at 6-foot-10 who can finish with efficiency around the rim and is coming along as a rim protector.

Camden put up 1.3 ppg and 1.0 rpg across 23 appearances this past season. He’s capable of stretching the floor with his shooting stroke. He’ll just need to prove himself.
