Combo guard/Small forward

Starter: Jalen Warley (18 mpg)

As mentioned earlier, Warley has point guard skills but small forward size, making him a possible NBA draft pick if he can showcase his game this season.

Warley can distribute, but Florida State could use more shooting from him to better spread the floor. He did lead the team in getting to the line last year, though, but his 67.9% free throw shooting begs for improvement.

Warley will also get the backup minutes behind Spears at point guard, but he’ll have secondary ballhandling duties when the Georgetown transfer is on the floor.

Reserve: Jamir Watkins (12 mpg), Taylor Bowen (10 mpg)

For years, Florida State found success with a suffocating defense and a powerful presence on the boards. That image has slipped in recent years, but the arrival of Watkins provides hope that it could still return.

The versatile forward can guard multiple positions, and he excels at blocking shots and creating turnovers. He’ll slot in next to Cam’Ron Fletcher to provide much-needed rebounding help. Watkins will also be one of the few players on the roster with a winning college pedigree, as his VCU Rams went 27-8 and won the A-10 last year.

Bowen is the lone incoming freshman on Florida State’s roster, and Seminole fans should be excited to see him on the court. His speed and athleticism make him an ideal rim runner in this offense, and his size and length will be of great use on the defensive end.
