SWAC Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
15. Troymain Crosby
Crosby is a 6’4 wing from Laurel, Mississippi who spent his entire four-year career at Alcorn State in his home state. He arrived in 2017 and became a vital part of the Braves rotation early in his career. After coming off the bench as a freshman, he’d develop into one of the SWAC’s better offensive players by the tail end of his journey.
Averaging just over 7 points a game as a freshman, he’d see his production increase with each subsequent season. Crosby averaged 13.8 points and 5.4 rebounds as a junior in a season where Alcorn State finished 4th in the SWAC. He actually had a triple-double against a non-D1 opponent as a sophomore but had his best production in his final season. Under new head coach Landon Bussie, Crosby averaged 19.1 points per game in the first year after the start of the pandemic.
Crosby was one of the best free throw shooters in the SWAC during his career and claimed First Team All-SWAC honors during his senior season. He put up decent numbers across the board for the Braves, developing into quite the player by the end of his career. Crosby’s numbers were impressive, it’s just a shame he didn’t get a chance in the postseason.
