12. Devonte Patterson

A 6’7 wing from Bridgeport, Texas, Patterson actually began his college career playing under Billy Gillispie at Ranger College. In 2018, he’d transfer to Prairie View A&M, finishing off his career with two years at the D1 level where he’d show off his skill and talent with the Panthers.

Patterson’s first year in the SWAC was a pretty successful one, averaging 13.5 points and 5.0 rebounds as a full-time starter for the Panthers. He’d average nearly 20 points a game in March, helping lead Prairie View A&M to regular season and tournament titles in the SWAC, including a 17-point effort in their Tourney loss to Fairleigh Dickinson. While the pandemic would shorten his senior year, he’d still manage to average 15.8 points and 6.4 rebounds, leading the Panthers to another regular season crown.

Fitting well into the program and the league, Patterson was named First Team All-SWAC in both seasons. His hot finish helped spearhead a title as a junior, while he was named the SWAC Player of the Year for that final season. Patterson did a little bit of everything for the Panthers and was part of great success, as the program finished 31-5 in league play during his career. It’s hard to complain about a few league titles and awards to finish off your career.
