11. Max Landis

A 6’2 guard from Indianapolis, Landis began his collegiate career at Gardner-Webb, spending a pair of seasons under Chris Holtmann over a decade ago. When Holtmann departed for Butler, Landis left the program as well, eventually landing at Purdue Fort Wayne. After sitting out the next year, he became eligible in 2014 and had a pair of solid seasons for the Mastodons back when they were still in the Summit.

He made decent strides in his first year with the Mastodons, averaging 9.3 points per game, though his senior year was the real stand out season. Landis averaged 19.3 points and 3.7 assists a game, made 46% of his 3-pointers, and led Fort Wayne to the regular season title in the Summit. Landis had a 44-point effort against South Dakota and dropped 37 on Omaha, but unfortunately saw him Mastodons get upended in the Summit League Tournament, settling for a trip to the NIT.

For that remarkable senior season, Landis was named the Summit Player of the Year. His 638 points was the 2nd best mark in the conference while he was one of the national leaders in 3-point shooting. Landis helped lead the Mastodons to remarkable success and had solid assist numbers as well, doing all he could to build success for this program. Frankly, he had a really outstanding step forward as a senior and it’s just a shame he couldn’t have spent more time in this program.
