9. Stanley Umude

Although he was originally brought into the program by former coach Craig Smith, Umude would have significant success under successor Todd Lee while at South Dakota. A 6’6 wing, he originally joined the Coyotes program in 2017 but played very little as a freshman, taking a major step forward in Lee’s first season at the helm as a sophomore.

In that sophomore year, Umude averaged 14.4 points while becoming a starter right around New Year’s. His numbers would be even better the following seasons, while also leading South Dakota to a 3rd place finish in the league as a junior. During his fourth and final year with the Coyotes, Umude not only got the program to 2nd place in the Summit, but he’d average 21.6 points and 7.0 rebounds a game, with very respectable shooting numbers as well.

Umude was twice named First Team All-Summit and became one of the league’s top scorers and rebounders by the end of his time. His 540 points as a senior was 15th in the nation while his shooting and shot-blocking figures were comparable with the best players in the Summit. After that impressive success as a senior, he opted to spend his final year of eligibility at Arkansas. He put up pretty decent numbers with the Razorbacks, but they certainly fell short of his greatness at South Dakota.
