Starting shooting guard – Kymany Houinsou

Sophomore: 2022-23 stats: 3.9 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 1.4 APG

Reserves- Sr. Jabe Mullins, Fr. Isaiah Watts

The shooting guard position is a little less defined for me as I see a couple of guys already on the roster taking most of those minutes. I think there’s a good chance we see a bunch of minutes that see Yesefu at the point and Houinsou as the off-guard.

The sophomore from France averaged 16 minutes as a freshman but over his first 25 games, he averaged nearly 20 minutes per game and just five over his last 12. There weren’t a lot of shots available for the freshman when he was on the floor, but that should change in his second campaign with the top four scorers gone.

The other player I think will see a decent amount of minutes at the position is senior Jabe Mullins who is likely to play minutes at multiple positions this season. Mullins should see a decent bump not only in minutes in production in his final season. In his first season at Washington State after transferring from St. Mary’s, the 6-6 swingman attempted 128 three-pointers and just 66 shots inside the arc and shot the same 43% from both places.

These two guys will likely see the bulk of the minutes at shooting guard. The other guy who could see situational minutes is freshman Isaiah Watts who is a combo guard who is a tenacious defender who originally committed to Seton Hall.
