Point Guard

Starter – Mark Armstrong (20 mpg)

Mark Armstrong returns for Villanova after putting together a solid freshman campaign in 2022-23. He earned All-Freshman honors after posting 5.3 ppg, 2.0 rpg and 1.0 apg on 40.1 percent shooting from the field.  He got some starting experience under his belt this past season, starting in 12 of his 34 appearances as a freshman. As a starter, he put together a stat line of 6.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.6 apg and 1.3 spg on 41.7 percent shooting from the field.

Armstrong isn’t the greatest perimeter shooter but he should provide some stability in the backcourt while battling for the lead guard spot with Chris Arcidiacono this season. It won’t be surprising to see them share the point guard duties and play based on who’s leading them to success after last year.

Bench- Chris Arcidiacono (20 mpg)

Chris Arcidiacono is another returner for the Wildcats who should see time at the backup point guard spot. He began the season in the starting rotation before moving to the bench by the end of last year. He’ll give them a veteran presence in the backcourt but he’ll need to improve his production. He averaged 2.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg and 1.6 apg across 34 appearances (20 starts) in 2022-23.
