Power Forward

Starter – Benny Williams (25 mpg)

Benny Williams continues to emerge for the Syracuse Orange as he enters Year 3 in the ACC. He improved a ton in his sophomore season in 2022-23, posting 7.2 ppg and 4.1 rpg on 39.6 percent shooting from deep and 44.7 percent shooting from the floor. He gives the Orange length and athleticism at the small forward/wing spot as he continues to develop into a 3-and-D role.

With the departures of Jesse Edwards and Girard III, he’s certainly got a ton of room to grow in the Syracuse offense after putting up solid production across 24 starts in 30 appearances. Maliq Brown

Bench – Maliq Brown (15 mpg), Mounir Hima

Maliq Brown returns looking to grow in a reserve role at the power forward spot. He averaged 5.7 ppg and 4.6 rpg on 69.8 percent shooting from the field in 2022-23. He hasn’t expanded his game to the perimeter just yet but there’s room for him to develop into a stretch-forward role similar to Benny Williams in the near future. While he’s not as athletic, his length on the perimeter as a shooter would be a tough cover. If there’s a need to go to a third power forward, Mounir Hima should fill the void.
