NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 7 teams for top-30 forward Khani Rooths
Michigan Wolverines
A case can be made that Michigan could use Rooths now, as they don’t have a traditional wing/small forward on the roster. Look for Alabama transfer Nimari Burnett to get the minutes there, or Jace Howard. The Wolverines are reportedly after other targets, including some five-star talents. Still, Rooths is an important player for them to try and get just on positional need.
Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs have a ton of veterans on the roster, including both DJ Jeffries and Cameron Matthews on the wings. Outside of freshman forward Adrian Myers, there’s no depth there after this season. It’s an opportunity for someone like Rooths to come in and have an impact and plug in several holes on the roster with his versatility.
Virginia Tech Hokies
Head coach Mike Young loves having versatile forwards that can do a little bit of everything. The Hokies had that in All-ACC forward Justyn Mutts and replaced him this offseason with Old Dominion transfer, Mekhi Long. He’s going to be around for one more year so they’ll need to replace him as well.
Rooths can fill that role and start at either the three of four-spots. Virginia Tech does have a class of 2024 commit in Tyler Johnson but they can afford to bring in both and offer playing time as well.
