Shooting Guard

Starter – Devin Carter (33 mpg)

Devin Carter is the first returner for the Friars who should lead the charge at the lead guard role in 2023-24. He returns after making quite the debut in the Big East with 13.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.8 spg and 1.1 bpg across 33 appearances, all starts, in 2022-23. He finished fifth in the conference in steals (59) and 10th in blocks (35) while turning in a PER of 19.7, good for 16th in the conference.

He also did well to get himself to the free-throw line this past season. He ranked sixth in the conference in free throws made (113). He’s a two-way presence who should lead the way in the backcourt with his ability to set the tone on defense.

Bench – Corey Floyd Jr. (7 mpg)

Corey Floyd Jr. is another returning reserve who should see an increase in minutes in Year 2. He averaged 2.6 ppg and 1.2 rpg across 29 appearances in 2022-23. He shot 41.9 percent from deep on 13-for-31 from the arc as a freshman. Look for his production to continue to increase as he shows his effectiveness on the wing at the off-guard spot. He’s got the potential to be a key reserve for the Friars given his ability to create on the perimeter.
