NCAA Basketball: Top 25 breakout sophomores to watch for 2023-24 season
16. Kel’el Ware – Indiana Hoosiers
2022-23 season stats: 6.6 ppg and 4.1 rpg
Ware is a former five-star prospect that struggled at Oregon last season but had a huge week at the PK85 Tournament. The 7’0 center went for a combined 35 points and 18 rebounds against UConn and Michigan State, along with 13 points and seven rebounds versus Villanova. Indiana, who doesn’t have star big man Trayce Jackson-Davis anymore, is hoping that Ware can be a good enough replacement.
15. Skyy Clark – Louisville Cardinals
2022-23 season stats: 7.0 ppg and 2.1 apg
The former top-30 recruit lasted just 13 games at Illinois last season but did have a couple of good games, including 19 points and four assists against Lindenwood. He’s set to be the lead guard for Louisville, replacing the outgoing El Ellis. After five-star freshman Trentyn Flowers opted to go pro overseas, there’s little guard depth once again for the Cardinals. So if nothing else, Clark will have the chance to put up some big numbers.
14. Baba Miller – Florida State Seminoles
2022-23 season stats: 4.3 ppg and 3.7 rpg
The 6’11 forward missed the first half of the season due to an NCAA-imposed suspension and by the time he got to play, the Seminoles’ season was over. Miller managed to have a couple of big games off the bench, including 12 points and six rebounds against Clemson, including 3/4 from deep. With a full season in play, look for Miller to be a focal point on offense.
