Small Forward/Wing

Starter – Josiah-Jordan James (25 mpg)

Josiah-Jordan James is another returner for the Volunteers who should fare quite well after battling through knee and ankle injuries this past season. He still managed to put up 10.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.8 apg and 1.2 spg on 31.3 percent from behind the arc and 37.2 percent shooting from the field across 24 games, 14 starts, in 2022-23.

He’s a versatile prospect at 6-foot-6 who should boost his stock as a potential NBA Draft pick after testing the waters and returning to Knoxville. He’s a versatile presence at 6-foot-6 who’s capable of operating at either forward role with his strength and length and gives the Volunteers a veteran leader on the floor.

Bench – Jahmai Mashack (10 mpg), Dalton Knecht (5 mpg)

Jahmai Mashack will have an opportunity to prove himself after producing 4.7 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.5 apg and 1.4 spg on 42 percent shooting from the floor across 36 appearances in 2022-23. He’s got some starting experience under his belt with 13 starts as well. He’ll be looked upon this season to provide depth for them at the small forward/wing role.

Dalton Knecht is an addition out of the transfer portal from Northern Colorado where he was an All-Conference performer. He’ll operate as the third option on the wing while also playing a role off the bench at the power forward role.
