Small Forward/Wing

Starter – Jose Perez (30 mpg)

Jose Perez is another transfer portal addition who should pay dividends for the Mountaineers on the wing given his prowess as a shooter and playmaker. He’ll ultimately give West Virginia a “third-guard” on the floor offensively while maintaining an ability to still defend bigger small forwards/wings on the defensive end.

He’s made quite the journey in the college basketball ranks since joining Gardner-Webb in the Big South back in 2018-19. He emerged with Manhattan in the MAAC in 2021-22, posting 18.9 ppg, 4.5 apg and 3.2 rpg before joining the Mountaineers this past spring. He’ll look to close out his career with a bang as a presence on the wing for West Virginia in the Big 12.

Bench – Ofri Naveh (10 mpg)

Ofri Naveh is an intriguing addition to the Mountaineers as a member of the 2023 recruiting class. He’s a 6-foot-7 forward and a native of Israel where he was a member of the U18 FIBA National Team. He put up 11.0 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 1.9 spg, 1.4 apg and 1.0 bpg on 54 percent shooting from the field and 47 percent from deep this past summer for Israel in the FIBA U18 European Championships. Look for him to carve out a role in the lineup with his length and prowess on both ends of the floor.
