Power Forward

Starter – Norchad Omier

Norchad Omier was another highly decorated transfer portal addition who joined the Hurricanes rotation in 2022-23. He finished with 13.1 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.1 spg and 1.1 bpg in his debut season in the ACC this past year. He earned third-team All-ACC honors with his play while finishing fifth in the conference in PER (26.0). He’s a versatile forward presence given his athleticism and fearlessness at 6-foot-7 to fly around and make plays on both ends of the floor. He’ll look to really up the ante with his production and more usage on the horizon this upcoming season.

Bench – Matthew Cleveland

Matthew Cleveland can give the Hurricanes some versatility with his ability to operate at either forward spot. He’ll see some minutes at the backup power forward role and could even move into the starting power forward role if things work out with Kyshawn George at the small forward/wing role. There’s certainly a need for Cleveland to fill a void with his ability to rebound the ball in the frontcourt. He finished 10th in the ACC in rebounds (223) with the Seminoles this past season and 14th in 2-point field goals made (136). He could emerge at the point-forward role for them and throw off a matchup or two when inserted at the four-spot.
