Small Forward/Wing

Starter – Jamison Battle

Jamison Battle is an intraconference addition from the Minnesota Golden Gophers who will look to breathe life and more wins into the Buckeyes rotation in 2023-24. He’s a 6-foot-7 presence who can operate at either forward role. He’ll look to close out his career with Ohio State after averaging 12.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg and 1.7 apg on 31.1 percent shooting from deep in 2022-23. His production dipped from the 36.6 percent shooting mark he achieved in 2021-22 with the Golden Gophers. He’ll look to right the ship production-wise as a key addition to the Buckeyes rotation this season.

Bench – Evan Mahaffey, Devin Royal

Evan Mahaffey and Devin Royal should battle it out for minutes at the small forward/wing role. Most of the minutes should go to Mahaffey given the need for Royal at the power forward spot. Mahaffey is just getting started in the college basketball ranks after making his debut with Penn State. He joins Ohio State after producing 2.8 ppg and 1.7 rpg across 34 appearances as a freshman in 2022-23. Royal will certainly compete with him for minutes, though Battle averaged 35.3 mpg this past season with the Golden Gophers. Minutes could be scarce.
