Wake Forest’s Schedule Outlook

Wake Forest’s season outlook all depends on their schedule and just like last year they start out the year with a fairly easy slate, until the get into conference play in January. Wake Forest can go into ACC play with having at a maximum of 3 or 4 loses, and that’s the worst case scenario. They have 5 “buy” games that they are almost guaranteed to win, and they play power 5 teams: Georgia, Utah, Florida, and Rutgers.

While Wake can win all of these games and will likely at least win half of them, it will be interesting to see how they fare against these other middle of the road conference teams. They will have to travel to Georgia for the 2nd game of the year, so we will at least know an idea of the teams identity in the early part of the season in their second game.

Wake will also have a decent slate of conference games and will play some of the bigger blue blooded ACC teams. They will have to play Duke twice (home & away), Virginia twice, Miami at home, at UNC, Pittsburgh twice, NC State twice, Virginia Tech twice, and will finish out the season with a senior night game against Clemson. Wake had the ability for the past 2 seasons to win big games and have clutch moments in games. They just need to be able to play like this consistently and they will be a team to talk about in the ACC.

Another thing Wake needs to avoid is going on losing streaks and losing to bad teams on the schedule. Based off last year, if you lose to teams like FSU and Louisville this season it will be hard to make it to the big dance in March. The ACC is looking better this season and Wake will be able to prove themselves to the rest of the league this season with this schedule.
