There’s a big chance the Wolfpack could find themselves undefeated or with just one loss heading into ACC play if all goes well. Vanderbilt should be a good test for them as head coach Jerry Stackhouse looks to continue his success in the SEC. Ole Miss should pose a slight challenge for them on the road in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Nov. 28 as well.
A conference game with Boston College on Dec. 2 should pose as a nice litmus test for where the Wolfpack stand before heading into the toughest part of the schedule. NC State’s two biggest tests come in back-to-back games in December when they’ll face the Tennessee Volunteers (Dec. 16) and St. Louis Billikens (Dec. 20). While one is at a neutral site, the other is at home when they host the Billikens. The Wolfpack will meet the Volunteers for the first time since 2017 looking to avenge a 67-58 loss. Overall, the Wolfpack have won six of 10 meetings, dropping four overall in the school’s history.
As for St. Louis, the Wolfpack have yet to beat the Billikens with two tries under their belt heading into this year’s matchup. Their last meeting was on December 17, 2020, when St. Louis won 80-69. NC State will look to get over the “hump”, so to speak, by getting their first victory in school history over the Billikens in non-conference action.
