Bowling Green Basketball: 2023-24 season preview for the Falcons
By Jay George
The state of Bowling Green Basketball entering 2023-24
The direction of this Bowling Green program can really go a few directions. As always with a new coach, a new culture and style is being put in place by Todd Simon in addition to the AD Van Der Merwe’s efforts overall. The team does look like a well-constructed roster with pieces that fit a modern and fast scoring style. They can attack at all levels offensively with great speed, handling, and ability. This should allow the team to be effective in transition and even if not defensively focused, will allow them to get stops and be quick to react on that side of the ball.
Of course, with a new coach and team, anything is possible. When looking at all the pieces together for this program, it looks like more likely than not, it will be a promising year for the BGSU faithful. Bowling Green has five seniors in starting or major roles with a handful of juniors and a few promising sophomores to back it all up.
With a new era of athletics from the student section Falcon Fanatics to the new identity of the team, it should be an exciting year for Falcon fans. This team should set a goal of being one of those top contender programs this time next season. If they can end this year with an above .500 record, build a strong fanbase, and set themselves up for a great future, this team could easily be a preseason favorite in one year’s time.
Expect a few highlights and a fun season for fans and players alike. Could this be the start of an intimidating mid-major program? Only time will tell.
On a personal note as an alum, Ay Ziggy Zoomba and roll along you BG Warriors!
