Key reserves to watch

George Marshall – Guard

Marshall is an electric offensive player. The junior college transfer could supplant Lathon in the starting rotation but will be productive wherever and whenever deployed. Morehead would have signed him last year but had so many guards that Marshall went to junior college instead.

Spradlin says Marshall ‘can absolutely score the basketball’. Marshall is just a sophomore and the head coach says he has a chance to become an all-conference type of player.

Jalen Windham – Guard

Windham is another transfer (Ball State) with plenty of experience. Over the past two seasons his .414 percentage from deep is an incredible weapon to be employed. He spent one year making 16 appearances for Creighton.

Eddie Ricks – Guard

Ricks is considered the ‘steal’ of this recruiting period. He was a top-ten player from the State of Tennessee. Ricks is a 6’7 guard and Spradlin describes him as the best athlete on the team and says the rate of improvement in his game during the offseason has been phenomenal. He and Minix may be interchangeable or may play side-by-side.

Spradlin says he could develop into an elite level rebounder. Look for Ricks to knock on the starting lineup door.

Zach Iyeyemi – Forward

Houston Christian transfer Zach Iyeyemi played 100 games for the Huskies and will battle Miles for the starting center job. At 6’9 he is three inches shorter than Miles, but has much more game experience. Last season he averaged five points and three rebounds per game. Morehead will be strong in the block with either of these players.

Trent Scott – Guard

Scott is following the Thelwell pattern to success. He arrived with good credentials and played sparingly, but effectively as a freshman. The athletic Scott is still filling out at 6’4 and 190 pounds. For a team loaded with guards, he averaged 2.4 points-per-game and showed he belonged in the D1 game.
