Arkansas Basketball: 2023-24 season preview for the Razorbacks
Key Reserves
Khalif Battle, Guard
Battle joins the Razorbacks rotation with two years of eligibility and in his first year, he’ll be looked upon to play the Sixth Man role for them. At 6-foot-5, he’s shown already he can be quite the reserve as he was with the Temple Owls in 2022-23. He posted 17.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.8 apg and 1.0 spg on 35 percent shooting from deep and 41 percent shooting from the floor across 27 appearances, just eight starts, this past season. He’ll be relied upon to bring the energy off the bench with his play on both ends.
Makhi Mitchell, Forward
Mitchell returns in his final season looking to continue his growth in the SEC with Arkansas as their first frontcourt name off the bench. He averaged 7.0 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.4 bpg and 1.1 apg across 36 appearances (31 starts) this past season after joining the squad out of Rhode Island. Look for his production to go up as a force off the bench after gaining a ton of experience in his first year in the conference.
Jeremiah Davenport, Guard
Davenport is another transfer portal addition out of Cincinnati who should contribute for the Razorbacks as a reserve. He posted 9.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 1.5 apg across 36 contests (15 starts) in 2022-23. He’ll give them another ballhandler and defender in the backcourt they can rotate with their 3-guard starting rotation.
Denijay Harris, Forward
Harris is an addition out of the portal from Southern Miss who will look to give the Razorbacks some depth in the frontcourt with his ability to rebound and finish around the painted area. He averaged 8.9 ppg and 5.6 rpg in a breakout year in the Sun Belt this past season. He’ll look to translate his talent to the SEC.
Layden Blocker, Guard
Blocker is a newcomer out of the Razorbacks 2023 recruiting class out of Sunrise Christian Academy. He made quite the name for himself on the EYBL circuit with Bradley Beal Elite and joins the rotation as a highly-rated floor general looking to make a splash in their backcourt this season.
Baye Fall, Forward/Center
Fall is another member of the 2023 recruiting class who should make an impression in this year’s rotation as a key reserve. He’s a 6-foot-11 native of Senegal who was quite the rim protector for Accelerated Schools out of Denver, Colorado. He produced 13.9 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 1.7 bpg as a senior and will look to show he can keep pace off the bench in the Razorbacks’ frontcourt.
