NCAA Basketball: Ranking final 18 unbeaten teams for 2023-24 season
By Joey Loose
7. Colorado State
All things considered, the job that Niko Medved has done at Colorado State has been one of the best at the mid-major level in recent years. The Rams danced two seasons ago before injuries toppled the team last year. Now healthy and rebuilt, this year’s Colorado State squad looks even more dangerous than that 25-win team from two seasons ago.
The Rams played well to open the season, with double-digit wins over Wright State and at Northern Colorado, but it’s been the recent games that have caught attention. They went to Kansas City for the Hall of Fame Classic and left with two big wins, including a shocking 21-point defeat of a Top 10 Creighton squad. Less than a week later, the Rams defeated in-state rival Colorado, handling a Buffaloes squad that had been ranked a week earlier.
Isaiah Stevens is playing some sensational basketball and the Rams certainly look like one of the early favorites in the Mountain West. Their efforts against Creighton remain one of the greatest performances of November. Ahead, the Rams get games with Washington and Saint Mary’s the next two weekends, though they certainly look better than both of those teams right now, with MWC play now just a month away as well.
