15. Nebraska

Getting Keisei Tominaga back for another season was a major offseason win for Fred Hoiberg and company at Nebraska. In the early weeks of the season, the Cornhuskers are getting solid play not just from him, but also from Juwan Gary, Rienk Mast, and Brice Williams, coasting to a much better start than they’ve seen in recent years, especially as a small dog in the Big Ten.

Among Nebraska’s seven wins to start the season, six of them have come at home against mid-major foes. The Cornhuskers did play well against a strong Duquesne squad last week and have won all seven games by double-digits in this young season. The lone exception was a 21-point win over Oregon State in a game played in South Dakota. It’s not a murderer’s row of opponents, but the Cornhuskers are taking care of their business.

If you look deep at the metrics, Nebraska’s offense is playing some great basketball in recent weeks. In fact, the Cornhuskers have scored at least 80 points in six of their seven wins. They’ll need that type of play to only continue because their next two weeks are extremely difficult. The Cornhuskers host in-state rival Creighton this Sunday before starting Big Ten play against Minnesota and Michigan State, with their first loss probably coming in the days ahead.
