Wisconsin Badgers

The Badgers started 1-2 on the season, losing to both Providence and Tennessee. After nearly losing to Robert Morris, the team looked like it would be a long campaign for them. They’ve recovered nicely, now on a 5-game win streak. That includes wins over Virginia and SMU, and now a home win over a top-5 Marquette squad.

The win this past weekend gave Wisconsin a signature victory to build off of and they still don’t have any bad losses. More importantly, it gives this team a buffer before a pair of brutal upcoming games on the schedule, on the road against both Arizona and Michigan State.

Virginia Cavaliers

The lone loss for Virginia is to Wisconsin, which certainly isn’t shameful at this point. And like the Badgers, the Cavaliers had a successful past week in Bracketology. They beat Texas A&M on the road in the ACC/SEC Challenge, followed by beating Syracuse this past weekend. The final score of that one was 84-62, led by a career-high 22 pts from Isaac McKneely.

Considering that Louisville and Notre Dame are the next ACC opponents a month from now, Virginia is set up to start league play at 3-0. As for the rest of the non-conference, the Cavs had two easy games up next (NC Central and Northeastern), followed by a battle with Memphis on the road.
