Bracketology 2024: Georgia Tech, Northwestern, and Wisconsin among big winners
Arkansas Razorbacks
After losing 3 of 4 games in a span that included a home loss to UNC Greensboro, the Razorbacks, this was a team that needed a big bounce-back. Luckily for them, they were at home against Duke in the ACC/SEC Challenge. The hostile environment worked in their favor as they managed to pull out an 80-75 victory. Khalif Battle led the team with 21 pts off the bench, along with 19 pts and 11 rebs from forward Trevon Brazile.
Although the Blue Devils are currently struggling as a team, that’s still going to end up as a big win for the program this season. And they need to start racking up victories because the competition doesn’t get easier to end the non-conference. Up next for Arkansas is a talented Furman squad out of SoCon, followed by a neutral site matchup with Oklahoma.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
At the start of last week, Georgia Tech looked like a team that would end up in the bottom tier of the ACC. They almost lost to Howard, before actually losing at home to UMass Lowell and getting blown out by Cincinnati. But the program rebounded very nicely in the past two games, starting with a win over a ranked Mississippi State team in the ACC/SEC Challenge.
The Yellow Jackets followed that up with a win at home over Duke last weekend. The final score was 72-68, led by 21 pts from freshman forward, Baye Ndongo. Guards Miles Kelly and Kowacie Reeves combined for 30 pts on the perimeter. They proved they can win at home but now GT needs to keep the momentum on the road, taking on another SEC team in the Georgia Bulldogs on Tuesday.
