Clemson Tigers 8-0

The Clemson Tigers have started out the year 8-0 after knocking South Carolina in their last game. Brad Brownell’s Tigers are coming off a season where they won 23 games and finished 3rd in the ACC. Picked to finish 5th this season, they have a signature road win over No. 23 Alabama in the ACC/SEC Challenge.

The Tigers are a veteran team led by three seniors, PJ Hall, Chase Hunter, and Syracuse transfer Joe Girard III. All three guys are averaging double figures, over 2.5 assists, and shooting at least 36% from deep.

As a team the Tigers love the three-point shot and for good reason, as a team, they shoot it at 41% which is the 7th best mark in the land. They also get 38% of their offensive production by way of the long ball. When the NET rankings debuted on Monday the Tigers came in at 18 with two quad 1 wins both on the road, against Alabama and Pittsburgh. The rest of their wins are currently in quads 3 and 4 (as of Monday), but as the season goes on there is a good chance that the wins over Davidson, Boise State, and UAB improve.

In past years Clemson has gotten off to similar starts only to have league play bring them back to Earth. The veterans on this year’s team are looking to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
