8. Virginia Tech Hokies - 15-11 (7-8)

The Hokies had two expected results in the last week, beating Florida State and falling to North Carolina. But in one of the top wins they could have, they found a way to beat Virginia at home on Monday in blowout fashion. The final score was 75-41, with the starting frontcourt of Lynn Kidd and Robbie Beran combining for 27 points and 11 rebounds on 9/9 shooting.

It’s good that the Hokies found a way to beat its rival because the next two games for them are on the road, taking on Pittsburgh and NC State. To have hope for an at-large bid, they may have to find a way to sweep them to have a realistic shot.

7. Wake Forest Demon Deacons - 16-9 (8-6)

After a three-game win streak, Wake Forest had two major road opportunities to get a signature win, taking on Duke and Virginia. Both of them were close games that went down to the wire, losing 77-69 at Duke, as well as 49-47 against Virginia. Hunter Sallis was the only double-digit scorer in both games, with the supporting cast’s inconsistencies proved to be their downfall.

The Demon Deacons are at home for the next couple of games, taking on Pittsburgh and Duke. A sweep is nearly a must for them on the bubble, with a Quad 1 and 2 opportunity for them. If they can’t find a way to get a big win this week, they’ll enter the ACC Tournament in major danger of missing out again.
