1. Connecticut (24-2)

Can there really be any questions over who the best team in the nation is right now? The Huskies have been on an absolute tear in recent weeks and have been getting contributions from all over this lineup. Not only are they blitzing their way through one of the nation’s best conferences, but they’ve started winning in style, especially after two more blowouts this week.

Wednesday saw little surprise as the Huskies went to DePaul and completed a sweep of the Blue Demons with a 101-65 victory. Alex Karaban scored 21 points and was one of six Huskies in double figures. The far more notable result came Saturday, as the Huskies pounded a Top 5 Marquette team 81-53 at home. Donovan Clingan had 17 points and 10 rebounds while Tristen Newton added 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists in the win.

The Big East remains a competitive and exciting basketball league but can any of these teams actually stop the Huskies? It’s almost bizarre that this team lost by 15 points at Seton Hall back before Christmas, as they’ve now won fourteen straight games ever since. It’s hard to see this team getting usurped, but they still have challenges ahead, including a road trip to Creighton early next week.
