23. Florida Atlantic (20-5)

There have been some certain challenges for Florida Atlantic this season, though what was probably to be expected. The Owls shocked the world by marching to the Final Four last season and it was even surprising to see them return virtually the entire roster this year. They have not been perfect this season, already dropping a few tough road games in AAC play, but they’ve kept afloat in recent weeks.

Another one of those imperfect efforts came last Sunday, as the Owls survived a road trip to Wichita State, claiming a 95-82 overtime win. Vladislav Goldin had 20 points and 9 rebounds while Brandon Weatherspoon scored 19 off the bench in a survival effort for the Owls. Things were a bit more normal on Wednesday, as they secured an 80-68 win against Temple at home. Johnell Davis had a nice game with 17 points and 6 assists while Alijah Martin added 16 points and 7 rebounds.

There’s immense talent and experience in Boca Raton, but are they disappointed in sitting just 10-2 in conference play? The Owls had a few rough losses earlier in the season but have looked much more cohesive across the last month, really settling in in their first ever season in this new league. We’ll see if they’re up for a challenge at South Florida on Sunday, with two matchups looming in the near future against Memphis.
