NCAA Basketball: Top 10 players to wear jersey No. 30 in 2023-24 season
By Joey Loose
1. Kyle Filipowski (Duke)
When Filipowski arrived on campus in Durham two seasons ago, he did so with high expectations. He was a five-star prospect considered among the best recruits in the Class of 2022. The New York native made great strides across a prosperous freshman season but made the decision not to be a one-in-done for the Blue Devils. Sophomore year would see more production and another great season for this Duke squad.
Filipowski averaged 16.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game while knocking down 35% of his 3-pointers. The dynamic forward wasn’t just named First Team All-ACC but was also a Second Team All-American. Not only was he an impressive scorer and rebounder, he also made great strides on the defensive end and spearheaded a 27-win season that saw the Blue Devils advance to the Elite Eight.
He’d drop 25 points against Arizona and 26 at Arkansas in two tough early season losses for the Blue Devils. Filipowski certainly showed up during ACC play, including a 30-point, 13-rebound performance over Georgia Tech and 28 points and 14 rebounds in a loss to NC State. Nevertheless, he’d help guide that postseason run for the Blue Devils, including 16 points against Houston in a tough Sweet Sixteen win.
