4. Good games from both Guillermo and Fede

I thought the center duo had a good night on both ends, which was going to be needed in case the guards had a rough time. Federiko had a couple of blocks in the first half, while Diaz-Graham had 12 points off the bench, including a pair of 3s. His ability to spread the floor was big to give room for others and since the UVA bigs aren't an offensive threat, there was no issue having him on the floor.

Jordan Minor had been getting more minutes during this win streak for Virginia but was limited to just eight minutes. Freshman Blake Buchanan had a better time with four points in 13 minutes but the Cavaliers' interior play wasn't good enough, playing into Pitt's hands of matching small-ball lineups.

5. Only Reece Beekman hurt Pittsburgh after the first 6 minutes

As mentioned, Beekman had a good game for UVA, scoring 19 points on 8/14 shooting. The only other double-digit scorer for them was Isaac McKneely, who had 15 points and made two of the team's four three-pointers. The problem is that seven of his points came in the first few minutes, starting 3/3 for seven points.

Credit to the coaching staff for making adjustments and running McKneely off the three-point line and making them beat Pittsburgh inside. Over time, they didn't have the offense to keep up. And without guys like Andrew Rohde and Ryan Dunn steeping up, the Panthers were able to get the big win and have real hopes for another NCAA Tournament bid.
