Tim Miles and Nebraska Basketball are looking towards the future with the program. They were able to land Donovan Williams, a guard part of the 2020 recruiting class.

Two days ago, the Nebraska Cornhuskers experienced something they had not experienced for 17 years. A high school player from Lincoln decided to stay at home and play for Nebraska. Ever since the close of last season, in which Nebraska finished in the top 4 of the Big 10 and won 22 games, the Huskers have experienced some good momentum. The momentum and the expectations are something that most Nebraska fans have never experienced.

It does seem hard to believe that the Huskers have not a single player from Lincoln on their team since 2001?  It is true, up until two nights ago Jake Muhleisen was the answer to a very disappointing trivia question amongst Husker fans.  The avid college basketball fans know that Nebraska has not had a great basketball program over their history.  They are still the only power 5 team to never win an NCAA tournament game.

Up until recently, the high school basketball talent in the state of Nebraska had been down. The state of basketball in the state is the best it has ever been. Both major universities in the state are relevant, the mid-major school Omaha was a game away from the NCAA tournament two seasons ago. In a previous writing, it was outlined how the state of Nebraska is getting noticed on the recruiting trail.  Most importantly the kids who are getting noticed the most are those kids who are playing on the AAU shoe circuits.

The newest recruit, Donovan Williams spent his summer playing with the Iowa Barnstormers.  The Barnstormers play on the Adidas circuit.  Williams is in the class of 2020, and before his summer of AAU ball was a virtual unknown to anyone outside of Nebraska. The guard chose Nebraska over some mid-major offers; however, he was being shown a great deal of interest by the Creighton Blue Jays as well as Wisconsin. The Wisconsin interest is interesting because Williams brother is a current football player for the Badgers.
