Michigan State basketball is in the hunt for several top-tier 2020 recruiting targets. Where might Coach Izzo and Co. stand with each?

Michigan State basketball is one of the best programs in the entire country. Year in and year out, head coach Tom Izzo puts together an outstanding roster with national title aspirations. Heading into this coming 2019-20 campaign, this holds true as the Spartans are widely projected to be the top overall team in the country behind the backcourt duo of Cassius Winston and Joshua Langford. It is impossible, though, for a program to remain as successful as Michigan State has without constant forethought. As a result, it should come as no surprise to hear that the Spartans are in strong positions to land some recruiting wins over the next few months.

Of course, the program’s successes on the court will be the top priority but it is hard to ignore the level of talent on Coach Izzo’s recruiting radar. The Spartans are aiming quite high with regards to prospects in the 2020 recruiting class, but there is absolutely no reason to think they would do otherwise. Over the course of the 2010’s, Michigan State was tied as the No. 11 recruiting program in the nation with an average class ranking of 27.90. It is clear that Coach Izzo knows what he is doing on the recruiting trail and that is also obvious given that the program has already snagged a top-75 commit in this class.

In addition to Jalen Terry’s early commitment, Michigan State has six scholarship offers out to uncommitted prospects at this moment. All of them have been sent to top-100 prospects and it feels as though the Spartans could be on the verge of yet another strong class. There are, of course, several other top programs pursuing Michigan State’s targets and therefore landing commitments will not be an easy task.

With that said, let’s dive into Michigan State’s current offers and analyze where the program might stand in each recruiting battle.
