Missouri Forward Laurence Bowers Out for the Season With Torn ACL

facebooktwitterreddit

The Missouri Tigers have been in the news quite a bit this off-season. First, it was the exit of Mike Anderson and the hiring of Frank Haith. Then, it was the discussion of will they or won’t they join the SEC.

Well, the Tigers are in the news again today, but unfortunately, it’s not a good piece of news.

Senior forward Laurence Bowers, who was going to be a huge part of this team’s success, has officially been ruled out for this season after tearing his ACL.

Seriously, this is such a devastating loss for a team that was probably going to be in contention for a Big 12 title. Even though a lot of questions were raised after the hiring of Haith, it still seemed like a lock that this team was going to win a lot of games.

And they still could. But not having a player like Bowers on both ends of the floor is going to make the process a whole lot tougher.

He’s a great shot blocker and rebounder, and those are two things that you can’t discount when it comes to trying to win a championship. The Tigers still have a solid returning lineup, and they should still be an NCAA Tournament team come March.

But, as for how far they can go, well, expectations might change with the loss of Bowers.
