8. Montrezl Harrell, Forward, Louisville Cardinals

The monster that is Montrezl Harrell plays with an intensity matched by no one else in the nation right now. Anyone who watched his display against the Indiana Hoosiers can see why GMs and scouts love him. He attacks the rim with reckless abandon and will try to dunk anything and everything.

Right now, he leads the Cardinals in scoring (17.0), rebounds (10.4), and is part of a Louisville front line that is athletic and a force on the defensive end. Harrell teased fans earlier in the year with a three-point shot, burying three of them against Minnesota in the opening game. Since then, he’s missed his last 11 shots from deep.

As of now, Harrell still projects to be an impact player despite being a 6’8″ power forward. He has a high enough motor, is athletic enough, and can defend well enough to make up for his size deficit.

7. Stanley Johnson, Guard/Forward, Arizona Wildcats

The other ‘Zona Wildcat on this list, Johnson has played very well to help his team to the #3 ranking. He tops the team in points at 14.5 a game, is second in rebounds at 6.4 a game, and is second in steals at 1.5 a game. Much like his teammate, he also plays well on the defensive end and has aided the Wildcats stifling defense.

However, Johnson is not quite the elite defender that Jefferson is, but makes up for it with a better offensive game. He’s shooting 38.7% from three-point range and is evolving his mid-range game to become an even better scorer. He uses his body well to get physical with his opponents (both offensively and defensively) and can finish well around the rim.

The only thing Johnson can continue to improve on is a more consistent shot and improving his ability to get to the rim, especially with his off-hand. However, he’s still going to be a lottery pick this spring.
