Recruiting: Meet the 2015 McDonald’s All-Americans
WEST ROSTER
PF – 6’9 225lbs, Carlton Bragg (Villa Angela-St. Joseph’s HS, OH)
Committed to Kansas
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
Meet the replacement for current Kansas big man, Perry Ellis. Bragg will team with a returning Jamari Traylor to give the Jayhawks a frightening athletic frontcourt next season. Bragg is a recent commitment, who only pledged to Bill Self in January.
PG – 6’1 190lbs, Jalen Brunson (Stevenson HS, IL)
Committed to Villanova
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
The rich get richer in the Big East as the Wildcats will expect Brunson to spend a year as an understudy to Ryan Arcidiacono before taking over the reigns of the devastating Villanova offense. Strangely, Brunson was set to commit to Temple, where his dad Rick starred before his career in the NBA. Rick Brunson was also slated to become an assistant on Fran Dunphy’s staff. Legal problems arose for Rick Brunson, causing the Owls to nix his deal. Now Jalen finds himself aligned with the Owls’ hated rival.
PF – 6’9 230lbs, Deyonta Davis (Muskegon HS, MI)
Committed to Michigan State
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
Tom Izzo has proven that he can take some of his weakest teams to the pinnacle of college basketball. However, his teams usually feature at least one highly touted prospect. Just in time to replace Branden Dawson (the team’s current lone McD’s All-American), Izzo brings in Davis, a floor stretching big that will remind Spartan fans of Adreian Payne.
PG – 6’6 197lbs, PJ Dozier (Spring Valley HS, SC)
Committed to South Carolina
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
It’s not often that South Carolina churns out an elite basketball recruit. Even rarer is the occasion when that recruit goes to school in the same city where the University of South Carolina calls home. Keeping PJ Dozier was an absolute must for Frank Martin and his staff, and the Gamecocks got it done. As Martin continues to rebuild South Carolina, Dozier’s versatility will make him the puzzle’s most important piece.
SF – 6’8 190lbs, Brandon X. Ingram (Kinston HS, NC)
Considering – UNC, North Carolina State, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and UCLA
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
The recruitment process for Brandon Ingram is more open than any other uncommitted prospect going into the game. Ingram will first have to decide whether to stay close to home or venture out, and then he will have to decide between the three schools that still fit the criteria. My guess is that he’ll be a Tar Heel, just as former Kinston high school standout Reggie Bullock was before him.
C – 6’10 230lbs, Chase Jeter (Bishop Gorman, NV)
Committed to Duke

I promise you that Chase Jeter is indeed a McDonald’s All-American, but for some reason his portraits weren’t available for inclusion. You’ll have to settle for this random picture that looks like it was taken at a Costco loading dock. Jeter is one of the best big men in this class, and he’ll be a more than adequate replacement for the surely departing Jahlil Okafor.
G – 6’3 175lbs, Malik Newman (Calloway HS, MS)
Considering – Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and LSU
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
Malik Newman carries the distinction of being the Class of 2015’s best pure scorer. While he’s capable playing either guard spot. He hopes to be a starting point guard on the next level. The program that can offer Newman the most minutes at the point will likely gain his signature.
PF – 6’11 225lbs, Ivan Rabb (Bishop O’Dowd, CA)
Considering – Arizona, Kentucky, and Cal
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
Ivan Rabb has been at the top of the recruiting rankings for as long as anyone can remember. Rabb’s length and athleticism has become legendary on the west coast. He must now decide whether he will commit to Cal or Coach Cal, with Arizona looming as a threat to secure him as well.
SF – 6’6 210lbs, Malachi Richardson (Trenton Catholic Academy, NJ)
Committed to Syracuse
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
The Syracuse Orange will be shorthanded for a few seasons after being docked scholarships as they pay for the sins of their past, but head coach Jim Boeheim will at least have Richardson around for the twilight of his coaching career.
C – 6’8 250, Caleb Swanigan (Homestead HS, IN)
Considering – Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State, Chicago State, and Arizona
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
Caleb Swanigan looks made for the Big Ten, but that doesn’t mean he’s a lock to join Michigan State next season. It seems like everyone’s a factor, especially since Swanigan insists that he’s also including Chicago State, where the head coach (Tracy Dildy) is a close friend of the Swanigan family.
G – 6’4 205lbs, Allonzo Trier (Findlay Prep, NV)
Committed to Arizona
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
The parade of All-Americans emanating from the always controversial Findlay Prep continues this year with Allonzo Trier representing the school. Trier is one of the best scorers in his class, but he may not be the point guard that coach Sean Miller needs him to be. If Trier wants major minutes next year, he will likely have to learn the point position that TJ McConnell will be vacating.
C – 7’0 240lbs, Stephen Zimmerman (Bishop Gorman, NV)
Considering – Kentucky, UNLV, Kansas, UCLA and Arizona
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
It doesn’t seem fair that the only seven-footer playing in this game spent his high school career playing alongside fellow All-American Chase Jeter. Unless he goes to Kentucky, Zimmerman’s collegiate front line may be a step down from what he was accustomed to in high school.
