Why Bobby Hurley as the sixth man for this team?
Bobby Hurley is a winner that’s why!
Duke Blue Devils
He flat out knows how to orchestrate offense and did a whole lot in college with Duke.
Honestly if he did not get into the car accident that ultimately ended his NBA career with the Sacramento Kings, from all appearances he was going to be a solid pro.
Duke made it to the Final Four three of the four seasons that he was running the point in Durham. Oh by the way, he quarterbacked two of those appearances into championships.
Bobby Hurley was named “Most Outstanding Player” for the 1992 NCAA Tournament and also received consensus First-Team All-American honors for his efforts in the 1992-93 season.
While at Duke, Hurley averaged 12.4 points and 7.7 assists. His senior year he put up 17.0 points and 8.2 assists.
Now Hurley is coaching at Arizona St. after doing a stellar job at the University of Buffalo.
This selection for the college coaching starting five is kind of like when Christian Laettner was selected for the Dream Team but you could think of plenty of other players that were more deserving.
Only problem is that Hurley’s play making ability is going to make this team look good.
