Despite the NFL Playoffs taking up much of the sports news of the day, there were still a bunch of solid NCAA basketball games.
In the Busting Brackets Daily Wrap-Up, we go through the major games of the day with a few short summaries and articles to keep you up to date on the recent news in the college basketball world. This covers the major games of yesterday and today, as well as looking at major news stories from across the nation.

Although they trailed by double digits at one point in the second half, Northwestern was able to make a storming comeback and grab this victory. Scottie Lindsey led the way for the Wildcats with 19 points, 15 in the second half, while three others joined him in double figures. Tai Webster was the leading scorer for Nebraska, dropping 17 points off the bench.

Off the bench, Milwaukee transfer Akeem Springs poured in 18 points by way of five three-pointers for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Amir Coffey was the team’s leading scorer with 19. As for Ohio State, Jae’Sean Tate dropped in 20 points and Trevor Thompson garnered a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds. Yet, it was the Gophers’ 12 blocks that eventually did the Buckeyes in.
Using 24 points from London Perrantes, the Virginia Cavaliers got a much needed win —they dropped each of their two prior games. For the day, Virginia shot 47.4 percent from three, while Wake was held to just 28.6 percent. The leading scorer for the Demon Deacons was John Collins, who finished with 16 points on 5-for-11 shooting.

Ivan Rabb scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Cal’s upset victory over USC on the road. Charlie Moore (16 points), Jabari Bird (12 points and eight rebounds) and JUCO transfer Don Coleman (12 points) were the three other players in double figures for the Bears.
Games to Watch on Monday, January 9th:
St. John’s Red Storm @ Georgetown Hoyas, 6:30 p.m. ET: Both teams are coming off at least two straight losses and both of them will be looking to get back on track with this game. Georgetown will once again play the role of the desperate home team, as they’re now 0-4 in conference. St. John’s has been a bit of a surprise so far out of the Big East, even at 8-9 on the year.
