Elijah Brown

Former School: New Mexico

Eligibility: Immediate for 2017-2018

Former Lobo Elijah Brown has narrowed his final schools down to five options including Iowa State. The gunner would be an interesting fit in Ames for a number of reasons.

He has the size to play in the Big 12 at 6’4, 200-pounds. He averaged a team-leading 18.8 points and 3.1 per game for New Mexico. Brown also finished with the most total rebounds on the team. The knocks against Brown this year were turnovers and shooting percentage. His splits of 38/83/33 were way down compared to 43/85/39 from last season, but that might have had to do with the toxic situation under now-departed coach Craig Neal. The turnovers are worrisome, but Coach Prohm would fix that by not making Brown the primary ball handler.

ISU is competing with Oregon and Northwestern as the most likely suitors right now. Brown visits Ames the weekend of April 21 unless he signs with one of the others on earlier visits. The Cyclones could use his scoring, but some other wing options might be healthier and more fitting.
